SEEC announced the launch of a pilot project to audit energy consumption in (50) commercial facilities that will be selected according to a set of technical standards approved by SEEC, to study opportunities to improve energy efficiency in these facilities.
Through this pilot project, the business sector will be comprehensively reviewed to understand its main characteristics and energy consumption patterns to develop appropriate solutions and initiatives to contribute to rationalizing and improving EE consumption in commercial buildings and encouraging EE projects in this vital sector.
The project includes several objectives, including: (i) Preparation and design of the energy consumption database for the business sector, (ii) Development of technical forms for reports and questionnaires, (iii) Development of an awareness and directive guidelines that includes advice to consumers in commercial facilities regarding the most important procedures and appropriate practices contributing to improving the energy efficiency.
The project objectives also include identifying the opportunities for saving energy consumption in commercial buildings, identifying the procedures required to achieve this saving, identifying the challenges facing service providers and beneficiaries of energy efficiency projects in commercial facilities, and proposing appropriate initiatives and enablers.
SEEC urged the concerned parties in the business sector to register in the project through the SEEC website “www.seec.gov.sa”, where the applications will be examined, and the facilities qualified for this pilot project will be selected according to the approved technical standards and the quality of the information provided by each facility.
