A review by the Economics Committee included the draft Implementation Guidelines for Sustainable Energy
The Economic and Energy Committee of the Shura Council has discussed, through a virtual meeting chaired by the committee chairman, Dr. Faisal Al-Fadhel, the SEEC annual report for the Fiscal Year 1440/1441H. The meeting was also attended by Nasser Al-Ghamdi, SEEC’s president with several SEEC senior officials.
During the meeting, the attendees have discussed the most important obstacles, operational and administrative challenges facing the SEEC, and the most prominent solutions to overcome the difficulties to improve the SEEC performance.
The committee has also discussed the adequate ways to localize technologies to improve the EE level in the Kingdom. The attendees have handled the extent that the energy rationalization and the efficiency can help reduce energy consumption, how digital technology can boost and increase the value of energy efficiency, how to remove organizational barriers to innovation, and how to improve access to energy-related information while ensuring fair access to digital technology and infrastructure.
The meeting’s attendants, including the SEEC officials, reviewed the draft implementation manuals for the application of sustainable energy guidelines and principles, and the relevant progress achieved in cooperation with the relevant parties in Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing (MoMRAH).
The Committee members have presented their views and observations on the report. The SEEC representatives responded to their inquiries and questions regarding the SEEC’s role in improving the energy efficiency. SEEC representatives outlines that they work in cooperation with the relevant entities to develop knowledge and experience in this field, and apply the best practices inside the Kingdom and abroad within the context of the 2030 Vision.
It should be noted that the Economy and Energy Committee is among the specialized committees in the Shura Council concerned with discussing and studying the annual reports for a set of Government entities that fall within the scope of their competencies. The Committee thus performs the Shura Council’s oversight role.
